FAQ

We only offer high quality scans (600dpi for paper photos, negatives and slides) and offer one low price for each of these. Our pricing is all inclusive; there are no hidden costs for the DVD, higher resolution, or enhancements. We don't ship your photos anywhere!!

What format of originals do we scan?

We scan the following formats:
• 35mm negatives
• 35mm slides
• paper pictures up to 8x10

We also scan children’s art work, post cards, newspaper stories, etc.

Why scan my old photos, negatives and slides?
Memories are priceless! Most people have thousands of pictures in different formats (paper prints, slides, negatives). Scanning them allows you to:
• Preserve them on digital media like DVDs and CDs
• Get rid of your clutter and easily organize all your pictures
• Sort them, date them and label them
• Distribute multiple copies to friends and family
• Create photo books for special occasions
• Compile picture biographies of loved ones
• Upload all pictures to online photo sharing websites

When will you bill me?
We required a 50% up front payment for your order. The remaining 50% should be paid just prior to returning your photos and receiving your DVD.

How much time does this scanning process take?
It typically takes 4-6 weeks from the time we receive your photos to scan your photos. These are for typical orders that are less than 650 photos. For larger quantities, please add approximately 4 days for every additional 650 photos.

Should I choose DVD or CD for storing my digital images?
DVDs hold 7 times as many images as a CD. The quality of the image is the same on both. Your computer must have a DVD drive in order to view them and upload them. You will only be able to view them on a DVD player for T. V.

How many photos fit on a DVD?
Approximately 1000 - 1200 paper print scans at 600dpi. It is difficult to determine an exact number because more digital size is used for pictures with more detail.

How should I assemble all my photos for scanning?
Paper photos should be removed from photo albums. Slides can remain in carousels or protective slide pages and boxes. Negatives can remain in envelopes.

Can I ship my photos?
We provide free pick-up and delivery in the GTA area. These are your precious memories, why stick them in the mail?

How does PicJoy ensure my images are kept private?
At no time will any photos leave the site. They will be handled by one person.

What is image cropping?
Cropping consists of digitally editing the scan to ensure that the image has a clean border.

Where do you process the pictures / originals?
We process your pictures on site - at no time are they shipped locally or overseas.

Can you scan a single negative that has been cut from a strip of negatives?
We can not scan a single negative that has been cut from a larger strip.

Do you scan glass slides or glass mounted slides?
At this time, we do not scan glass sides.

Can you scan my curled black and white negatives?
Not at this time.
